States Rights
A term brought back from the bad ole days of segregation used when people were trying to hide they were pro-segregation. Today it's a fig leaf to cover the GOP's efforts to push highly unpopular policies at the state level where it's difficult to impossible for citizens to stop them where gerrymandering has allowed extremists to take over state legislatures. Trump in his 2024 campaign uses the term to give a hat tip and a wink to extremists that he's with them.
